Tunneled Epidural Catheters

The Honolulu Pain Management Clinic LLC can use this method to block the transmission of signals through nerve fibers in or near the spinal cord and relieve pain.

Tunneled Epidural Catheters – Epidural administration is a medical procedure in which a drug is injected into the epidural space of the spinal cord. The epidural route is frequently employed to administer diagnostic and therapeutic chemical substances, as well as certain analgesic and local anaesthetic agents. Epidural techniques frequently involve injection of drugs through a catheter placed into the epidural space. The injection can result in a loss of sensation—including the sensation of pain—by blocking the transmission of signals through nerve fibers in or near the spinal cord. Subcutaneously tunneled epidural catheters may be left in place for longer periods, with a low risk of infection or other complications. [1]
